The Short Version

Your videos never leave your device. SubtitleAI processes everything locally in your browser using AI (Whisper). We don't have servers to receive, store, or process your video files. It's technically impossible for us to access your content.

1. Data We Don't Collect

  • We do not collect, store, or transmit your video files
  • We do not collect or store subtitle/transcript text
  • We do not require account creation or login
  • We do not use cookies for tracking
  • We do not sell any data to third parties

2. Data We May Collect

We may use privacy-friendly analytics (such as Plausible or Umami) to understand how many people use SubtitleAI and which features are popular. This data is:

  • Fully anonymized — no personal data, no cookies
  • Aggregated — we see totals, not individual users
  • GDPR compliant — no cookie banner needed

3. How Processing Works

When you use SubtitleAI, the following happens entirely in your browser:

  1. Your video file is loaded into browser memory
  2. ffmpeg.wasm extracts audio locally
  3. The Whisper AI model (downloaded once, cached) transcribes the audio
  4. Subtitles are displayed and exportable
  5. When you close the tab, all data is gone

No network requests are made with your video data. The AI model is downloaded from Hugging Face's CDN and cached in your browser's IndexedDB.

4. Pro Purchases

If you purchase SubtitleAI Pro, payment is processed by Lemon Squeezy. We receive your email address and payment confirmation. We do not store credit card information. See Lemon Squeezy's Privacy Policy for details.
